Annette Frommer presents: a three-bedroom apartment, commissioned for family visits in Jerusalem.

The client provided a very detailed brief. His vision was clear. He wished to maximize the space and he requested the use of lots of blue materials in all types of shades. I based the color palette on blue and I incorporated many of its glorious hues such as midnight blue, navy blue, baby blue, powder blue and more.

The challenge was to make the small apartment feel large and to provide it with a minimalistic type of elegance. …

The client provided very explicit specifications as to how he had imagined this apartment. He wished to use it for frequent visits, some with his family, children and grandchildren, and other times for short business trips. As such he wanted the apartment to be child friendly, easy to maintain but also aesthetically beautiful with understated elegance.

In order to fulfill his requests, I began with the floors. The floors throughout the apartment are porcelain wood-like tiles that are exceptionally practical and that can handle children running around, playing, etc.

Perched on the three highest floors of a building, this 750 sqm magnificent penthouse serves as a pied-a-terre during extended holidays in Jerusalem, Israel. The client requested subdued traditional classic elegance using products and materials of the highest level.

We were commissioned to undertake this full-blown remodeling project where only the ceiling and floors remained and were a given. …

This apartment from quite a few years back is located in one of Jerusalem’s residential towers. Since the apartment was not especially large it had to be planned and designed with a clear command of balance and proportion. I had to be extremely careful in choosing furniture that was neither too small nor too large. The visual weight of all the rooms had to be balanced and harmonious. All the furnishings had to complement each other. I wanted to give the apartment zest and pizazz, so that the final outcome would be anything but standard.

The apartment is located within walking distance of Tel-Aviv’s HaTzuk Beach with a breathtaking view of the glistening Mediterranean on the horizon. It was obvious to me that the color palette for this luxury apartment had to be based on the vast possibilities that a blue color palette offers.

For the living room, I went with a petrol blue velvet sofa and scatter pillows in blue and aqua prints. Together with the rectangular glass and brass coffee table, a regal feel is created. The light and sheer voile curtains add to the breezy, beach-like feel of…

After searching for an impeccable pied-a-terre in Jerusalem, a perfect opportunity presented itself when two apartments in the same building were up for sale. Since the client loved the area and building, it was obvious that what he had to do was to purchase both apartments, connect them, and thoroughly recreate and refurbish the entire space. In other words, a full gut renovation had to happen.

The result is the total transformation of two very average apartments into one spectacular duplex.

Restoring an old house is no small feat. An architect/designer needs to integrate modern touches with much caution and lots of care and to work closely together with a skilled team to make magic happen.

In this instance, a remarkable historic landmark house with a huge garden built in the 1930s was the project at hand. We had to be extremely careful to maintain the character of the rooms as we strived to return the former beauty and glory to this formidable mansion in Jerusalem.

It was a couple of years ago that we were commissioned to review the plans of the remodeling of a very large and exclusive mansion. Part of the project included bringing to completion of the makeover of a very long, dark, and narrow basement utilizing the existing layout and partitions. It is no wonder that the project had been stopped. Basements are formidable and intimidating spaces for remodeling. …
